SECURITY & CONFIDENCE

Protection is a connected discipline.

Controls, visibility and response decisions need to work together around your business.

Understand

Identify the systems, people and requirements in scope.

Protect

Coordinate access, endpoint and information controls.

Respond

Agree who investigates, authorizes action and follows through.

Your starting point · scope and responsibilities

BUILT FOR EVERYDAY BUSINESS RISK

More than unwanted email.

A familiar name. A false request.

An executive impersonation or changed supplier payment instruction can look convincing. Combine message protection with a separate verification process.

A real account in the wrong hands.

A stolen session or compromised mailbox can let an attacker read conversations and send credible messages. Inbox filtering alone does not address that access.

Information that needs to stay protected.

Sensitive attachments, accidental deletion and retention needs call for clear sharing rules, backup and archive policies.

EMAIL SECURITY SERVICES

Choose the layers your environment needs.

We assess, configure and manage the following services within an agreed scope. Product features, licensing and response responsibilities are confirmed for your tenant.

01 · IDENTITIES

Managed ITDR

Identity Threat Detection and Response helps identify suspicious sign-ins, stolen sessions and account takeover activity. We configure supported identity monitoring, review alerts and coordinate authorized containment and recovery, including suspicious mailbox rules or application access.

02 · MESSAGES

Phishing, spam & malware filtering

Configure inbound filtering, impersonation controls and supported link and attachment protection. Tune quarantine policies, legitimate-sender exceptions and user reporting so staff have a practical way to flag suspicious mail.

03 · IMPERSONATION

Business email compromise protection

Address executive impersonation, supplier fraud and compromised-account messages with appropriate detection, mailbox controls and investigation. Help establish independent verification for payment or bank-detail changes.

04 · YOUR DOMAIN

SPF, DKIM & DMARC

Inventory legitimate sending services, configure email authentication and monitor DMARC reports. Move toward an appropriate enforcement policy through planned checks so approved business mail continues to flow.

05 · SENSITIVE INFORMATION

Email encryption & data-loss prevention

Configure supported encryption and DLP policies around the information your team handles. Pilot rules, recipient experience, alerts and exceptions, with business owners deciding what can be shared and with whom.

06 · RECOVERY & RETENTION

Email backup & archiving

Set up and manage suitable mailbox backup and archiving services. Agree retention, restore testing, search and export needs, and access permissions. Backup supports recovery; archiving supports retention and retrieval.

UNDERSTANDING ITDR

Protect the identity behind the inbox.

Email filtering examines messages. ITDR looks for signs that an identity is being abused—even when an attacker signs in with a valid credential or stolen session. It complements multifactor authentication and access management.

Detect

Collect supported identity signals and look for suspicious access, session activity, mailbox changes or application permissions.

Investigate

Review the context, affected accounts and available evidence to distinguish legitimate work from a possible compromise.

Respond

Follow the agreed authority to contain access, revoke sessions or remove malicious changes where supported, then coordinate recovery and follow-up.

Clear ownership matters.

We agree alert coverage, escalation contacts, response permissions and service hours before onboarding. Available actions depend on the identity platform, integrations and selected service.

FROM REVIEW TO ONGOING CARE

A planned rollout. A usable response process.

Review the environment

Map tenants, domains, users, mail flow, business senders and existing licenses. Identify gaps and sensitive workflows.

Agree the service

Choose controls, responsibilities, coverage and reporting. Document change approvals, exceptions and rollback.

Configure & validate

Pilot policies, check mail delivery and user experience, and test reporting and recovery using approved scenarios.

Manage & improve

Review alerts and policy effectiveness, tune controls and keep response contacts and documentation current.

You retain ownership of your accounts and business decisions. Deployment needs authorized tenant access, suitable licenses and approval for mail-flow or domain changes. No protection eliminates every threat.

PLATFORMS & PROVIDERS

Built around Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

Microsoft 365Google WorkspaceHuntressBarracudaMicrosoft Defender for Office 365

We work with Huntress, Barracuda and Microsoft security capabilities where they fit the environment. Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is an option for Microsoft 365; Google Workspace designs use compatible native and third-party controls.

The providers are options, not a promise that every product supports every platform or is included together. We confirm compatibility, license editions, monitoring coverage and recovery requirements during discovery.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before we get started.

Do you support both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace?

Yes. We scope email security for both platforms, including organizations with multiple tenants or domains. The available features and products differ, so we check licensing, integrations and mail flow before recommending a configuration.

Do we still need ITDR if we use MFA?

MFA is an important preventive control. ITDR adds detection and response for identity abuse, including activity involving stolen sessions or compromised accounts. It complements strong sign-in policies rather than replacing them.

Does DMARC stop every phishing or fraud attempt?

No. SPF, DKIM and DMARC help receiving systems assess mail claiming to come from your domain. They do not prevent every lookalike-domain message, compromised-account message or social-engineering attempt. Filtering, identity controls, staff reporting and payment verification remain important.

Can you work with security tools we already have?

Yes. We start with existing licenses and controls, including Huntress, Barracuda and Microsoft Defender where applicable. We identify useful coverage, gaps and overlapping policies before proposing changes. A review or implementation project can lead into an agreed managed service.

What is the difference between backup and archiving?

Backup is designed to restore data after loss or unwanted changes. Archiving is designed around retention, search and retrieval. We agree both requirements separately; native retention or an archive should not automatically be treated as a complete backup strategy.

Is employee phishing training included?

We can pair email protection with our managed security awareness and phishing training service. Training cadence, simulation authorization and reporting are agreed separately. See Security Awareness & Phishing Training.
